must reads for september
get out your knit wear and jewel tones, here are my 5 romance book recs for september 2022
I, like so many, love the fall. From a simple weather standpoint, I enjoy summer for about one week, and then as soon as the temperature flies past the low-20s I immediately begin to count down the days until the crisp foggy mornings of September arrive. I am not someone who is built to live in the heat. I am a Bronte heroine built for the cold grey gloomy weather of northern England (or the Pacific Northwest in my case). Give me rain and apple trees and yellow leaves and festive gourds and the buzz of back-to-school energy and, to quote the one true queen Nora Ephron, a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils, and I am in my own personal heaven. I love the fall. So, here are a few books that are set to be released in September, may they accompany you as you enter in the most wonderous time of the year…
Vanessa Jared’s Got a Man by LaQuette (Sept 20)
Vanessa Jared, a divorcee in her 40s, is shocked when a man shows up on her doorstep begging her to help her save his little sister from marrying her ex-husband. Let’s go!
The Decoy Girlfriend by Lillie Vale (Sept 6)
Celebrity dopelgangers, fake PR relationships and forced proximity, oh my! Listen, the name “Taft” is ridiculous, but look past it and embrace all of the Hollywood chaos that this book brings!
Where We End & Begin by Jane Igharo (Sept 27)
This is a guaranteed make you cry and your chest ache for multiple days kind of book, so be prepared. Returning to Nigeria from Seattle for her friend’s wedding, Dunni runs into Obinna, her shy, awkward, first love who has turned into a successful, confident man. Can the devastation and heartbreak of their pasts be overcome? Oof, you will sob for daysssssss!
The American Roomate Experiment by Elena Armas (Sept 6)
Due to a slight miscommunication and a broken ceiling, Rosie Graham and Lucas Martin are forced to share an apartment. While stuck together Lucas offers to help Rosie, a romance writer, with her writer’s block by taking her on a series of kitchy dates, not realizing that she has been crushing on him from afar for months. This will be swoony, and probably a bit silly, but who cares it’s a rom-com, enjoy it!
Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings (Sept 6)
I already talked about this book, which I recieved as an ARC, a few posts ago (click here to read my review!), but my one note is that it’s easily the best ADHD rep I have read so far in romance. The accidental pregnancy trope might read differently in our post Roe v Wade world, but the goofy chaos and humor of this ensure that it is a fun tropey, romancey read!
Enjoy!
