must reads for october
get out your plaid plants and your comfiest nora ephron sweater, here are 5 new romance recs for october 2022
It’s here. The first full month of fall. And, in my opinion, the most romantic month of them all (fuck February, that is peak depression season and valentines day is incredibly tacky). Don’t ask me to explain why, I just feel it in my bones. Okay, maybe it’s because my first true book love is Anne of Green Gables, and we all know how Queen Anne Blythe (née Shirley) feels about October. So, below are five new romance books that will be released in October that I think you should read, or at least give a try!
Mistakes Were Made by Meryl Wilsner (Oct 11th)
Meryl Wilsner is a wlw age-gap writer extraordinaire, so this one is definitely going to be good! A college senior accidentally hooks up with her best friend’s mom during Family Weekend, and hijinks ensues…
Partners in Crime by Alisha Rai (Oct 18th)
Mira Chaudhary wants a normal boring man, so she joins a dating app and meets Naveen Desai. However, after learning her aunt has died, Mira, along with Naveen, heads to Vegas to settle her affairs but along the way they get flung into a wild night of chaos involving kidnappers, art thiefs, and internet hackers…will they make it through together? [as an aside if you are not following Alisha Rai on IG or TikTok do it immediately, she is incredibly funny]
In Your Dreams, Holden Rhodes by Stephanie Archer (Oct 29th)
The third book in the Queen’s Cove series, this time following the curmudgeonly Rhodes brother Holden. There isn’t much out there as to the plot, but Archer’s writing is very fun and is a fellow Vancouverite so….you gotta support!!!!!
On the Hustle by Adriana Herrera (Oct 11th)
Alba Duarte is stuck working for the most infuriating man on earth, former Olympic swimmer Theo Ganas, so she quits and moves to Dallas and starts living the life she has always wanted. Then, out of the blue, Theo shows up at her door with an offer she can’t refuse….Listen friends it’s giving The Wall of Winnipeg and Me vibes, so that’s an immediate yes from me. I can’t wait for this one!
The Corey Effect by Casey Dembrowski
I really enjoyed Dembrowski’s first book, so I am eargerly anticipating this one! When Andi Scott’s estranged father dies suddenly, she finds herself heading back to the hometown she swore she’d never go back to and running into the boy that she loved and lost so long ago. October seems like the perfect time to read a second chance small-town romance, and Dembrowski’s ability to craft deeply human characters means that this book will probably be a gut punch!
Enjoy,
Georgia xx
